ASIC Design Engineer – AI Accelerator (London)

An early-stage AI hardware startup in London is building a next-generation accelerator to handle increasingly complex machine learning workloads. They’ve secured strong funding and are growing a small, high-calibre engineering team focused on delivering high-performance, efficient silicon.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in the design of a custom ASIC from an early stage, working closely with architecture and verification teams.

What you’ll be doing:

• RTL design in SystemVerilog/Verilog for key blocks within the accelerator
• Working on compute, memory, and interconnect (AXI/NoC) components
• Contributing to microarchitecture definition and design decisions
• Driving performance, power, and area optimisation
• Supporting integration and working closely with verification

What they’re looking for:

• Experience in ASIC or SoC design
• Strong RTL skills (SystemVerilog or Verilog)
• Understanding of digital design and microarchitecture
• Familiarity with AXI/AHB/APB or similar protocols
• Background in electronics, computer engineering, or similar

Nice to have:

• Experience with AI/ML hardware, GPUs, or accelerators
• Exposure to NoC or high-speed interconnects
• Awareness of physical design constraints (timing, power)
