Job Overview
The Maternity Trauma and Loss Care Service is an integrated maternity and mental health service that provides support for women and birthing people who have experienced trauma and loss on their reproductive journeys
There are two mental health providers (West London NHS Trust and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) and four maternity providers (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust and Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) covering six hospital sites across eight boroughs, all working collaboratively on service
We are looking for applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic assistant psychologists. Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead, the post-holder will provide support to a qualified team of psychologists, therapists and midwives.
Main duties of the job
To assist and support qualified psychology staff with daily tasks in the running a Maternity Trauma and Loss Care Service M -TLC
To support the team with triaging referrals into the service as well as supporting staff with collecting routine outcome measures. A significant proportion of the role will involve supporting the team with the group pathway.
To gather, collate and analyse data as required informing pathways of care support with quality improvement, research and development projects within the service, as required.
To analyse and display data and text in a way that aids the clear dissemination of information.
To develop systems that will effectively record data pertaining to the key performance indicators of the service. This will include working closely with the Trust’s IT teams to ensure the relevant data is captured
To work on developing clinical materials for the service as well as service documentation including referral forms and other service documentation with the support of senior colleagues.
To attend meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed, as required.

To receive regular clinical and management supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
To work in conjunction with colleagues to provide training in matters relating to the work of the MMHS to the relevant networks including maternity and health visiting
To work in conjunction with colleagues to write presentations to key stakeholders to promote the service and help convey the services aims in preparation
To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings
To design and compile material pertaining to the clinical interventions that the MTLCS will offer
To support the co-production activity that is essential to the design and implementation of the service
To support the clinical team with triage of referrals and initial screening and assisting with writing up notes and letters
To hold a small caseload and deliver evidence based assessments interventions.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology.
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
- Advanced keyboard skills.
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of managing data related to outcome measures in a clinical setting
- Previous experience of delivering evidence based interventions
- At least 12 months as an assistant psychologist, a research assistant or as an HCA or equivalent in a setting for those with severe and enduring mental disorder.

- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems in the perinatal period
- An understanding about the use of outcome measures in clinical settings.
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
- An understanding of the use and value of routine outcome measures in clinical practice
- Understanding of psychology applied to health care.
- High standard of report writing.
- High level communication skills (both written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
- Able to understand a number of psychological models and their applications for women who have experienced trauma and/or loss related to the maternity context
- An understanding about the use of outcome measures applicable to the Trauma and Perinatal context
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and it implications for a Perinatal and Maternity Context
- Experience of using databases or data analysis, knowledge of SPSS for Windows.
