Associate US Immigration & Nationality Lawyer (London / Remote → Hybrid)

Join a leading boutique US immigration law firm in London, with the opportunity to begin work remotely before relocating to the UK.

We’re looking for a US-qualified (or soon-to-be qualified) lawyer to join our close-knit team, dedicated to delivering personalised, high-quality legal support to individuals, families, and businesses. We value warmth, positivity, and a collaborative spirit.

This role would suit a recent law school graduate who has passed a US-state bar exam or will be taking one imminently.

Work Setup:

·       If required, start remotely (e.g. from the US) during probation.

·       Transition to London-based hybrid working (2–3 office days/week).

·       UK visa sponsorship available after bar admission + probation.

·       Permanent role dependent upon passing the bar.

What You’ll Do:

·       Conduct legal research and provide advice on US immigration and nationality law.

·       Manage client cases under the supervision of senior attorneys, from initial inquiry through to successful completion.

·       Maintain and develop strong client relationships while efficiently managing casework.

·       Handle a variety of US visa and nationality matters, including, but not limited to:

  • Non-immigrant visas: B-1/B-2, E-1/E-2, H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, O-1A/O-1B.
  • Immigrant visas: EB-1, EB-2 (including National Interest Waivers), EB-3, and family-based immigrant visas.
  • US nationality: citizenship, loss of nationality, passport applications.

·       Supervise and collaborate with Client Support Assistants and Administrative staff as needed.

·       Accurately record billable time, ensure prompt invoicing of fees and costs, and proactively monitor case profitability.

·       Engage with prospective clients and, as experience grows, build and manage an independent caseload.

·       Stay updated on developments in US immigration law and fulfil Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements by attending relevant conferences.

·       Participate in business development, networking, and client outreach activities.

About You:

·      Juris Doctor (JD) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or the foreign equivalent).

·      Admission to a US state or Washington, D.C. bar – OR taking the bar exam imminently.

·      Strong interest in relocating to/working in the United Kingdom.

·      Can provide one to two references from prior legal work (in a law firm, government clerkship, legal clinic, etc). Preference will be given to those with prior immigration experience.

·      Strong writing and analytical skills and a high attention to detail.

·      Desirable: participation in law review or another academic journal.

What We Offer:

·      28 days of paid vacation.

·      Competitive salary (aligned with Central London market).

·      UK visa sponsorship if required.

·      Private healthcare insurance after completion of probation

·      Hybrid working model – two to three days per week in the office, with flexibility to work remotely on other days.

·      Pension contributions based on full salary.

·      Two weeks’ working abroad entitlement every year.

·      Attend the AILA Annual Conference after second year of employment and then every other year.

·      Attend one Rome District Chapter conference per year after first year of employment.
