Due to the continuous growth, we are looking for an Assurance Analyst.

This role sits in the Strategic Energy Planning (SEP) Directorate, which oversees the development of a whole energy system approach that considers community and environmental interests, as well as safeguarding system resilience and minimising system cost.

The role will look to support the Assurance Manager in the SEP Portfolio team.

This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

Programme & Project Assurance

  • Lead end-to-end programmes or project assurance reviews on governance structures, decision‑making processes, control frameworks, change management readiness, impacts, and stakeholder engagement… across all stages of programme delivery against existing internal and external standards.
  • Manage external assurance activities, acting as a key point of contact for the service provider and ensuring alignment with internal assurance objectives.
  • Assess performance against scope, cost, schedule, quality, and benefits.
  • Review key controls, including risk and issue management, and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations to the senior leaders.
  • Quality‑assure outputs and monitor completion of follow‑up actions.
  • Share good practices across SEP and NESO where appropriate.
  • Monitor and report on progress against agreed actions.

Assurance oversight support

  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual SEP Assurance Plan.
  • Support the planning and management of the assurance reviews from scoping through to reporting and follow‑up.
  • Support the progress tracking and dependencies management
  • Support reporting to SEP senior leadership.

Essential

About You

  • Experience in assurance, programme management, audit or risk management.
  • Good understanding of programme and project delivery frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and influence.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and address business readiness gaps and risks.

Desirable

  • Experience in performing assurance in the energy industry,
  • Qualification or Knowledge of MSP, PRINCE2, or similar delivery frameworks.
  • Practical experience applying or assuring against Green Book and Aqua Book guidance.
