Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Imaging Department at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHSFT (Bedford site) for suitably qualified Band 6 Radiographers to apply for a Band 7 CT Radiographer position.

This is a modality‑specific role within CT, with the flexibility to rotate according to service needs. The post holder will support service delivery, lead on training and development within the wider team, contribute to audit and service improvement, and deputise for the Modality Manager when required.

Main duties of the job

  • Take an active role in delivering high‑quality CT imaging and patient care.
  • Support and train radiographers, students, and other staff, contributing to their ongoing development.
  • Supervise the clinical team and deputise for the Modality Manager when required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • BSc In Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • Certificate in cannulation

Desirable criteria

  • Post Graduate Cerificate/Diploma
  • Post graduate study in Imaging specialty
  • ILS Trained

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience within specified modality
  • Extensive experience in general radiographic practice

Desirable criteria

  • Extensive experience in a second specialised modality

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Professional knowledge across the spectrum of cross-sectional/ specialised procedures
  • Sound scientific and technical knowledge relevant to the post
  • Awareness of all legislation and safety requirements relevant to the post
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous personal professional development
  • Commitment to governance and audit

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of governance and audit procedures

Personal Skills

Essential criteria

  • Skilled in performing cross-sectional/specialised imaging
  • Ability to undertake range of both general & specialist cross-sectional/specialised examinations
  • Participate in first line image interpretation
  • Computer literacy, with excellent computer / keyboard skills / mouse skills

Desirable criteria

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information to patients and staff
  • Deal sensitively with patients from all cultural backgrounds
  • Able to pass on knowledge to others in a clear and concise way
  • Able to work well under pressure and work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
