Main duties of the job
- You will work as part of a dynamic and professional team, rotating through all key sections of the Haematology Laboratory, including General Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion. Duties include the preparation, analysis, and validation of patient samples using a range of modern automated equipment such as the Alinity H analyser, ACL TOP systems, and the IBG Iris Blood Group Analyser.
- You will be expected to maintain high standards of laboratory practice, ensure quality control procedures are followed, and contribute to the delivery of timely and accurate diagnostic results to support patient care.
- The role involves performing routine and urgent tests, troubleshooting equipment or result anomalies, and liaising with clinical staff when needed.
- Participation in internal and external quality assurance programmes is essential.
- You will also be involved in the implementation of new technologies and workflows as we undertake an exciting phase of laboratory upgrades and analyser replacements.
- This is a full rota position, requiring participation in all shifts, including nights (some of which may be consecutive), weekends, and bank holidays, as part of a 24/7 diagnostic service.

- BSc in Biomedical sciences (H)
- HCPC registration in Biomedical sciences (H)
- Evidence of CPD (H)
- Specialist portfolio in haematology/BT or blood sciences
- MSc in Biomedical sciences

- Multi-tasking skills, prioritisation skills and initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to use in-house IT systems
- Competent in use of main Microsoft software applications
- Ability to perform scientific calculations & data analysis
