Bridge / Civils Technician

We are seeking an experienced Bridge/Civils Technician to join our Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects through the production of high quality 2D/3D models and technical drawings, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across bridges, structures, ancillary civil works and water assets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply project-specific and company drafting standards.
  • Produce and maintain 2D/3D models, CAD drawings and design documentation.
  • Ensure all design deliverables meet required standards of quality, accuracy and consistency.
  • Support design development in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Coordinate drawing production and model development across project disciplines.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and development of BG&E CAD standards, workflows and best practices.
  • Assist with project delivery within programme, quality and budget requirements.


Skills and Experience - Essential

  • Proven experience delivering technical drafting/model production for infrastructure projects, including bridges, structures, ancillary civil works and/or water assets.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for the preparation of construction and detailed design drawings.
  • Experience in reinforced concrete and/or structural steel detailing.
  • Good working knowledge of MicroStation or equivalent infrastructure drafting software.
  • Experience working within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and integrate outputs with other disciplines.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to challenging project programmes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Skills and Experience - Desirable

  • Experience working on Network Rail projects and within railway design environments.
  • Bar bending schedule preparation using specialist software such as CADRC or similar.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer for infrastructure modelling.
  • Experience in model coordination and clash detection using Navisworks.
  • Experience using Autodesk Vehicle Tracking.
  • Experience working within BIM Level 2 project environments.


Qualifications - Desirable

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Formal qualifications or certification in CAD software and drafting technologies.
