Role Overview

Department: IT

Reports To: IT Director

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Developer / Analyst to help shape and support reporting, dashboarding, and data insight across the business. This role will focus on developing and maintaining BI solutions, with particular experience in Qlik Cloud, while also drawing on previous development experience to support data integration, automation, and process improvement. Industry knowledge within the utilities or energy sector would be highly advantageous.


The role suits someone who is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working closely with stakeholders to turn business requirements into practical, reliable reporting solutions.


Key Responsibilities


BI Development and Reporting

Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports in Qlik Cloud.

Translate business requirements into clear, accurate, and usable BI outputs.

Develop and support KPI reporting for operational and commercial teams.

Ensure reporting is consistent, well-structured, and aligned to business needs.


Data Analysis and Insight

Analyse business data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

Support decision-making by providing accurate and timely insights.

Work with a variety of internal and external data sources.

Help improve data quality, consistency, and usability across systems.


Development and Data Integration

Use previous development experience to support data handling, automation, and integration work.

Assist with the design and maintenance of data flows and transformations.

Work with structured data formats such as CSV, JSON, and API-based feeds where required.

Support improvements to internal processes through technical problem-solving.


Stakeholder Support

Work closely with colleagues across the business to gather requirements and refine outputs.

Provide clear guidance and support to users of BI tools and reports.

Respond to reporting queries and help maintain trust in the data.

Present findings in a clear, practical way to non-technical stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve efficiency.

Support the ongoing development of BI standards, documentation, and governance.

Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and data-led working.


Skills and Experience

Proven experience in a BI Developer, BI Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.

Strong hands-on experience with Qlik Cloud.

Previous development experience, ideally in data, reporting, scripting, or systems work.

Good understanding of data modelling, reporting logic, and analytical thinking.

Strong Excel skills and confidence working with structured data.

Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.


Desirable Experience

Industry knowledge of the utilities, energy, or brokerage sector.

Familiarity with energy market data, contract data, or operational reporting.

Experience with automation, data transformation, or system integration.

Knowledge of SQL, APIs, or other data connectivity methods.

Experience working in a small, agile team environment.
