Business Systems Partner (Project Manager - Digital, AI)

Our Head office is based in J3 Business Park, Doncaster and provides support to the businesses in the following areas: Finance and Payroll, Human Resources, HSQES, Work Winning, Procurement and Fleet.

VolkerRail is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Business Systems team in Doncaster. Working across a broad range of business and technology initiatives, you will play a key role in improving how systems are adopted, governed and utilised across the organisation, helping to deliver lasting business benefits.
Our core ERP system, COINS, supports around 850 users and remains central to many of our improvement initiatives. Alongside the ongoing enhancement of COINS, you will lead projects that optimise existing technologies, support the introduction of new solutions and help establish a more coordinated approach to business systems and innovation across VolkerRail.

About our role
- Lead multiple IT, digital and systems projects from scoping to implementation
- Modernise COINS and drive improvements across VolkerRail's wider systems ecosystem.
- Partner with stakeholders to define requirements and success criteria.
- Strengthen digital governance and promote adoption of approved tools and platforms.
- Represent VolkerRail at Group‑level digital and AI forums.
- Apply recognised project management methodologies for consistent, high‑quality delivery.
- Manage project plans, budgets, risks and change control with strong governance.
- Build positive stakeholder relationships and champion process improvement.
About you
- Experience delivering construction‑related systems and software (COINS experience desirable).
- Strong track record leading complex IT/ERP or digital projects.
- Project management qualification (PRINCE2, AgilePM, APM).
- Confident engaging with technical detail and translating it for others.
- Skilled communicator with excellent stakeholder management.
- Process improvement - ability to challenge inefficiencies and drive modernisation.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- People management experience.
- Project & change management.
