Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD / CAFM Technician to join our Estates & Facilities team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and maintaining accurate estate data, supporting operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic decision-making across multiple sites.

You will be responsible for reviewing and updating CAD drawings, managing CAFM system data, and contributing to the digital management of our estate through innovative technologies such as 3D scanning.

This role involves working across a variety of sites, including clinical and non-clinical environments.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct on-site surveys to validate and update CAD drawings across all facilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date AutoCAD drawings (floor plans, site plans)
  • Manage and support the CAFM system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Capture and process 3D scans and digital images for integration into estate systems
  • Collect and maintain asset data to support maintenance planning and compliance
  • Produce reports on space utilisation, maintenance backlog, and statutory compliance
  • Work collaboratively with Estates, Facilities, and Capital Projects teams
  • Provide technical advice and training to colleagues on CAFM processes and systems
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. Health & Safety, Asbestos, PPM records)
  • Analyse complex data and present insights to support operational and strategic decisions

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience in Architectural Technology, Building Studies
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and experience with CAFM
  • Familiarity with CAFM systems and asset management principles.
  • Be fully aware and apply the health boards policy on GDPR whilst using scanning equipment.

  • Knowledge of building services and facilities management.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience in a facilities management, building services, or construction environment
  • Understand compliance requirements in healthcare or similar environments.
  • Experience with 3D scanning technologies.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of using and manipulating software such as MiCAD, AutoCAD
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large datasets.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • CAD drawing updates, asset data management
  • Demonstrate experience of producing measured surveys

Desirable criteria

  • Healthcare estates experience

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Advanced IT skills using a variety of different IT platforms
  • Ability to travel around the Health Board independently
  • Ability to work on own initiative, but also as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent data manipulation skills, including databases and spreadsheets and ability to extract, collate, analyse and summarise data in tables and charts.
  • Polite, professional and friendly approach to work
  • Good analytical skills

Desirable criteria

  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

  • Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised effectively within guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be independently mobile to meet the requirements of the post, including travelling to different Health Board sites
