CAD Design Engineer

Role Description: Multi-disciplinary role supporting development of advanced aluminium cast solutions within a small technical team.
Tasks would include:
- evaluation of design concepts including full DFM.
- Feed and gating design to allow casting simulation (training given).
- Implementation of design changes to suit improved manufacture.
- Development of new casting concepts using CAE outputs (topology optimised)
- Report and presentation creation for both clients and the internal team.
Reporting to: Technology Centre Director.
Required:
- Degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical. HNC/HND considered
- Minimum of 3 years' industry experience post-qualification
- Proven experience in design-led engineering projects
- Proficiency in CAD design, ideally Solidworks
- Experience in creating reports and PowerPoint presentations
- Strong working knowledge of engineering standards, including evaluating GD&T
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven experience in DFM
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- CAE experience, ideally with Altair Optistruct/Inspire
- Automotive/aerospace experience
- Casting design knowledge
- An understanding of CNC machining concepts and approaches
- Some knowledge of tooling concepts, design & manufacture (dies/moulds)
