Capital Modelling Manager | Commercial & Strategic Focus

Valayo is working with a leading London Market insurer on an opportunity within their Capital Modelling team.

One of the biggest attractions of this role is the opportunity to move beyond purely technical capital modelling and gain much broader exposure to how capital is actually used across the business.

Alongside the core modelling work, you'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, helping them understand complex risks, bringing together different sources of information and using the output from the model to support wider commercial and strategic decision-making.

The role offers a really interesting balance between technical modelling and business partnering. They're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of complex problems, but equally wants to understand the commercial context behind the numbers and communicate their findings to people with different levels of technical expertise.

There's also significant variety in the work. You'll gain exposure to areas including portfolio analysis, reinsurance, risk appetite, capital allocation, stress and scenario testing and wider strategic projects, rather than being focused purely on the production and maintenance of the capital model.

One of the biggest advantages is the level of ownership you'll be able to develop over time. You'll be given the opportunity to take responsibility for increasingly complex areas of work, build relationships with senior stakeholders and become someone the wider business can rely on to translate technical analysis into useful commercial insight.

You'll also play an important role in the ongoing development of the capital modelling framework, helping ensure it continues to reflect changes in the business, regulatory requirements and wider market developments. There will also be opportunities to manage projects and support the development of other members of the team.

They're particularly interested in candidates who are...

• Qualified Actuaries with strong General Insurance capital modelling experience
• Experienced within the London Market / Lloyd's environment
• Experienced in managing complex projects and taking ownership for delivery
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and communicating technical concepts clearly
• Commercially minded and interested in how capital modelling can support wider business decisions
• Experience in areas such as strategic model use, portfolio optimisation or regulatory interaction would be advantageous

This would particularly suit someone who has built a strong technical foundation in capital modelling but now wants a role with more ownership, senior stakeholder exposure and involvement in the commercial side of the business.
