Cardiology Locum Consultant

This is an exciting time for a new cardiologist to help develop cardiology services, for our local population of about 750,000 people. The appointed individual will be expected to work closely with other consultants in the department of cardiology.
The service has a Clinical Director, Dr Kamal Khan, Matron Naheed Sabir and Operational Manager, Tania Woolley. There are regular directorate meetings to communicate directorate and corporate issues and also to provide support to medical staff. Regular job planning meetings are held to monitor workload.
The new post holder will be expected to participate in a hot week system, whereby all cardiology inpatients are seen daily Monday to Friday, and a review of any patients with cardiology conditions in the MAU or elsewhere in FGH/ROH occurs daily.
The service provides new and follow-up cardiology clinics. The clinics are held in the main hospital. The department has the support of the cardiology specialist nurses.
Provision with Consultant colleagues of a quality service to the Trust with responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to the specialty
Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and for contributing to postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally.
Participate in continuing medical education and commit to revalidation, maintain and develop high standard cardiology services manage outpatient and in-patient referrals Involved in audit processes It may be required to provide cardiology services at other sites within the Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust. Involvement with ongoing strategic service redesign.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical competence and an ability to communicate that competence to patients, other clinicians, practitioners, and junior staff.
