As the Class Lead, you will play a key role within the middle leadership team, leading the day-to-day running of an allocated class to ensure safe, consistent and high-quality support for autistic learners. Working closely with education, therapy and behaviour support colleagues, you will create a positive and collaborative learning environment that promotes meaningful progress, independence and learner outcomes.

You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the class team, ensuring that educational, behaviour analytic and therapeutic programmes are delivered effectively and with fidelity. You will identify and respond to barriers to learner progress, escalating concerns appropriately and ensuring that all learners receive individualised support aligned with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

As Part Of This Role, You Will

  • Be accountable for learner outcomes within the class through effective leadership, consistent delivery and timely escalation
  • Lead the day-to-day organisation, coordination and operational running of the class and teaching week
  • Promote and maintain a strong safeguarding culture, health and safety compliance and safe working practices within the classroom
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Person for the class, including monitoring and recording attendance
  • Ensure high standards of quality assurance, including curriculum delivery, learner progress, assessments and maintaining accurate evidence and reporting records
  • Foster a transdisciplinary approach by working collaboratively with education, therapy and behaviour support teams in the best interests of learners
  • Support the implementation of education, behaviour support and therapy programmes to ensure consistency across the class team
  • Provide leadership, support and line management to Teaching and Learning Practitioners (TLPs), Teachers/Trainee Teachers, Behaviour Analysts/Trainee Behaviour Analysts, Therapists and Therapy Assistants allocated to the class
  • Contribute to creating a positive, structured and learner-centred environment that enables autistic learners to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Download the job pack.
