Client Accountant
The Client Accountant is responsible for delivering high-quality accounting and financial administration services to Webster Hart’s clients, including UHNW individuals, family offices, and private estates. This role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping, preparing financial reports, and supporting both the CFO and Finance Manager in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all client accounting operations. Subject to the agreed scope of services, duties include but are not limited to:
CLIENT ACCOUNTING & BOOKKEEPING
- Maintain accurate accounting records for client entities and households, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting for multiple client accounts.
- Process supplier invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims in accordance with Webster Hart’s control procedures.
- Manage client payment runs, ensuring all authorisations and approvals are obtained in line with internal policy.
- Support the Finance Manager and CFO in preparing bespoke reports tailored to individual client requirements.
- Maintain accounting systems and digital filing structures for accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality.
- Support the preparation and submission of UK VAT returns and international equivalents as required.
CLIENT LIAISON & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Act as a day-to-day point of contact for client financial queries, maintaining a professional and responsive approach.
- Liaise directly with clients, family offices, and household staff to coordinate accounting and payment activities.
- Support the Property team in providing financial insight
- Uphold Webster Hart’s commitment to discretion, confidentiality, and exceptional client service.
TEAM COLLABORATION & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Work collaboratively with the Finance, Property, and Operations teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant accounting.
- Contribute to the development of internal finance procedures and system improvements.
- Provide administrative and technical support to the wider Finance function as required.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior finance staff, sharing best practices and promoting accuracy and integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping, management accounting, or client accounting (family office or property environment preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, VAT, and financial controls.
- Proficiency in Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.
- Proficient in Excel and experience preparing management reports is advantageous.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and client-service mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
- Discreet and trustworthy, able to handle confidential financial information appropriately.
- Collaborative team player who demonstrates initiative and accountability.
