About the role

The purpose of this role is to support the business through legal, contractual and oversight activities relating to third party distributors, delegated claims handlers and outsourced providers. The role is focused on agreement management, due diligence, regulatory/legal horizon scanning, complaints administration, governance support and operational oversight activities undertaken by AEL on behalf of AEICL.


This role is more legally and administratively focused than a traditional compliance role and would suit a candidate with prior experience gained within a law firm, legal services environment or contractual/governance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Third party distributor and claims handler monitoring and oversight.
  • Creation, drafting, review and management of Claims Handling Agreements and related schedules.
  • Onboarding due diligence assessments and formal reports for third party claims handlers and outsourced providers.
  • Maintenance of contractual registers, renewals and governance documentation.
  • Regulatory and legal horizon scanning, including FCA, FOS, ICO and industry developments, and communicating updates to the business.
  • Production of quarterly compliance / regulatory newsletters and business communications.
  • Action and remediation tracking using Protecht.
  • Complaints administration and support for Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaints, including evidence gathering and deadline management.
  • Compliance inbox monitoring and coordination of stakeholder queries.
  • Support oversight of first line activities performed by AEL for AEICL, including Fair Value Assessments, complaints oversight and claims handling oversight.
  • Production of reports, trackers, meeting papers and governance materials.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience gained within a law firm, legal practice, paralegal environment, legal operations team or similar legal/governance setting.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing or administering contracts, agreements or legal documentation.
  • Strong written communication, report writing and document management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with trackers, governance actions and administrative processes.


Desirable

  • Awareness and understanding of financial services, complaints handling or regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with FCA, Consumer Duty, delegated authority or claims handling arrangements.
  • Experience using governance/risk systems.

This is a hybrid role with time in our Cheadle Hulme office.
