Nottingham, England, United Kingdom Internship Posted 2 hours ago
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Consultant in Children and Young People’s Emergency Medicine to join a friendly, dynamic and forward thinking Children’s Emergency Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. NUH is a Major Trauma Centre for the East Midlands, with a dedicated Children’s and Young People’s Emergency Department based within Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

We are looking for a team player with a passion for delivering high quality, compassionate care to children and young people, who will contribute to our ambition to develop one of the leading Children’s Emergency Departments in the UK, delivering excellent care without exception.

We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills, whose primary focus is safe, effective and child centred emergency care. You must be committed to supporting education, research, quality improvement and health promotion, all of which are central to our service and future development. The successful candidate will be supported by a senior mentor during their first year and given protected time to develop special interests aligned to departmental and Children’s Hospital priorities.

Come and visit us to learn more about our department, our people and our plans for the future.

Day to day, you will contribute to the Children and Young People’s Emergency Department consultant clinical rota, providing senior clinical leadership on the shop floor and taking responsibility for the assessment and management of acutely unwell and injured children and young people. This includes leadership of paediatric resuscitation and major trauma, working closely with the wider Children’s Hospital and Major Trauma Centre teams.

You will be expected to demonstrate effective leadership across the multi professional team and play an active role in the education, supervision and development of doctors in training, advanced clinical practitioners, nurses and other learners within the department. You will contribute to clinical governance activity, including audit, quality improvement, incident review and service development. All consultants are expected to be GCP certified and to actively support recruitment to research studies within the department.

Non shop floor duties are integral to the successful running of a busy Children’s Emergency Department. There are a range of opportunities to contribute to the leadership and governance of CYPED and the Children’s Hospital, including involvement in education, research, service improvement and departmental development.

You will be encouraged and supported, with protected time, to develop specialist interests aligned to departmental strategy and the wider priorities of Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
