Overview
Harrow School Standards and Effectiveness Team are looking to recruit additional consultant school improvement partners to our team of independent improvement partners who can advise and support schools across Harrow Local Authority. This is an exciting opportunity to join our strong and established team, who have a proven track record of providing high quality school improvement to our schools. We are looking to expand out team with consultants who have primary or secondary experience.

Harrow Council is the 12th largest London borough by and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.
Our intention is for every pupil in Harrow to receive a high-quality education and be well-prepared for their next steps. Our improvement consultants work closely with the local authority and in partnership with school leaders to continue to work towards meeting this ambition. We are looking for people with a proven track record in school leadership and / or school improvement to join our team and to work collaboratively to promote and support the high aspirations of the education community across Harrow.
About You
You will have senior leadership experience, as a headteacher and preferably with previous experience as a school improvement adviser with a strong understanding of school improvement strategies. In addition, you will have a broad understanding of the wider curriculum and assessment frameworks and priorities in education. You will have a proven track record of leading improvements within your current educational role and of supporting improvement across different schools. Inspection experience would be welcomed, and a secure understanding of the Education Inspection Framework is essential.

Key responsibilities:
- Be the named adviser for an agreed number of schools and providing termly visits, advice, challenge and support through a traded services agreement.
- Collate data and write accurate reports in a timely manner
- To attend half termly training and support sessions with the CSIP team and to contribute to these as required
- To keep abreast of local and national developments in order to inform and support schools
- Support the Harrow Lead and Senior School Improvement Advisers, as well as the Director of Education to improve outcomes and opportunities for all children in the Borough
- Contribute to professional development opportunities delivered to schools
- Additional education duties to support the work of the team as appropriate and agreed
- Experience of working at a senior level in the schools’ sector
- School improvement experience including support for schools in all Ofsted categories
- Ability to communicate to a high standard with a variety of people, both verbally and in writing
- Good track record of school improvement and a thorough understanding of current issues facing schools
- Ability to work under pressure, manage own time, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
- An understanding of the 0-19 curriculums (although there is the option to work in a preferred phase)
- Ability to understand and assimilate relevant legislation and guidance and give advice on its content.
- Competent IT skills
- Inspection experience would be welcomed
