Credit Controller
Morgan McKinley Northern Home Counties are delighted to be partnering with a growing and well-established business in Bedford to recruit a Credit Controller to join their busy finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller or Accounts Receivable professional looking to join a successful organisation where they can make a real impact. You'll be responsible for managing outstanding debt, resolving customer account queries, and ensuring cash collection targets are achieved whilst maintaining excellent customer relationships.
The Role
As Credit Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the financial performance of the business through effective debt management and customer account administration. Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you'll proactively resolve issues, minimise aged debt, and ensure timely payment collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the sales ledger, ensuring customer accounts are up to date.
- Chase outstanding debt via telephone, email, and written correspondence.
- Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and internal departments.
- Monitor aged debt reports and take appropriate action to minimise overdue balances.
- Allocate and reconcile incoming payments.
- Identify and escalate potential bad debts or payment risks.
- Maintain accurate customer records and account information.
- Produce regular reports on debtor balances and collection performance.
- Support wider finance team activities when required.
- Ensure collection targets are met whilst maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or Sales Ledger.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident telephone manner with the ability to handle challenging conversations professionally.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a growing business.
