Duties And Responsibilities
- Make confident, accountable decisions regarding credit limits and exposure
- Effectively manage risk across a substantial, multi-branch customer base
- Apply a consistent approach to risk while demonstrating appropriate commercial flexibility
- Lead and supervise large, multi-functional teams, including credit control, administration, and legal functions
- Coach and develop team members, instilling a culture of accountability and high performance
- Balance the pursuit of sales objectives with diligent risk control, supporting branch growth without compromising credit quality
- Operate comfortably in collaboration with senior stakeholders on significant business decisions
- Provide support to multi-site or branch networks and influence Branch Directors’ decision-making as necessary
- Foster effective stakeholder relationships across a diverse range of personalities
- Serve as the final escalation point for credit-related matters arising within branches
- Implement strategies to reduce aged debt and oversee collections, particularly with high-risk accounts and legal escalations
- Uphold consistency and best practice throughout the credit control function
- Communicate with clarity and authority to senior leadership, branches, and customers
- Navigate difficult conversations regarding credit limits, refusals, and escalations with professionalism
- Present credit performance data in a clear, meaningful, and influential manner
- Exhibit decisiveness, resilience under pressure, and sound commercial judgement
- Establish credibility as a leader by combining a process-driven mindset with pragmatic, solutions-focused approaches
- Working knowledge of Kerridge is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Excel
