Compensation: £70,000-£80,000 base (depending on experience) + performance bonus

The opportunity

We're looking for a Data & AI Solutions Architect to own and evolve VantagePoint's internal data, systems and automation architecture as we continue to scale.

Our ambition is to build a best-in-class internal data and technology ecosystem - connected, scalable and increasingly AI-enabled. As a finance transformation and technology consultancy, we want the way we operate internally to reflect the same standards and ambition we bring to our clients.

This is a hands-on role. You'll set the direction and architecture, but you'll also build, configure, integrate and improve the solutions behind it. You'll inherit an active roadmap, deliver immediate improvements and help shape what our future technology and data landscape should look like.

The challenge isn't simply technical. You'll work across the business to understand requirements, prioritise competing needs, make recommendations and lead change through to adoption.

We need someone equally comfortable stepping back to design the right solution and getting stuck in to make it work.

You don't need to have worked with every platform. We're more interested in your ability to understand how systems, data and workflows fit together, learn new technologies quickly and design better ways of connecting them.

What you'll own

Data & systems architecture

• Own the architecture across our core internal systems, data and integrations.
• Design clean, scalable data models and flows across commercial, delivery, finance and operational platforms.
• Set clear standards for data quality, governance, integrations and development.
• Identify architectural weaknesses, duplication and manual processes and design pragmatic solutions.
• Balance immediate business needs with long-term scalability.

Automation & AI

• Identify where automation and AI can materially improve how the business operates.
• Design and build automated workflows across systems and teams.
• Explore and implement practical AI-enabled solutions, agents and new ways of using AI to configure and improve our systems and workflows.
• Reduce manual processing, re-keying and unnecessary administration.
• Help us scale the use of AI and automation across the organisation.
• Measure impact through time saved, better data, reduced errors and improved decision-making.

Build & execution

• Pick up our existing systems and data roadmap and move quickly into delivery.
• Build and configure solutions directly, working with external developers or suppliers where needed.
• Prototype ideas, test approaches and deliver quick wins alongside longer-term architecture.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across systems, integrations and data flows.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation and development standards.

Roadmap & change

• Own and maintain a prioritised roadmap across data, systems, automation and AI.
• Gather requirements and translate business needs into clear technical plans and solutions.
• Manage multiple initiatives from concept through implementation and adoption.
• Communicate progress, dependencies, decisions and risks clearly.
• Ensure changes work for the people using them - not just technically.

Business partnership

• Build a strong understanding of how VantagePoint operates across sales, delivery, finance and operations.
• Translate business problems into practical technology and data solutions.
• Present recommendations and options clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Bring structure to ambiguous problems and help prioritise where technology investment will create the greatest value.
• Act as a trusted internal advisor while remaining close enough to the detail to deliver.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who understands the technology, sees the bigger business picture and knows how to turn both into practical solutions.

You’ll bring a strong combination of:

• Data architecture, data engineering, systems architecture or software engineering experience.
• Designing data models, integrations and end-to-end data flows.
• Strong hands-on SQL capability and experience with relational databases.
• Python or another development language used to solve real business problems.
• APIs, integrations and cloud-based architectures.
• Workflow automation and low-code/no-code tooling.
• BI and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau or similar.
• Cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Practical application of AI, LLMs, agents or AI-enabled automation.
• Experience working across CRM, ERP, finance, project or operational systems - experience with some of our current technology stack would be beneficial, but isn't essential.

Just as importantly, you'll be someone who:

• Can think strategically without disappearing into strategy.
• Enjoys being hands-on and building solutions, not just designing them.
• Can take an ambiguous problem and turn it into a structured plan.
• Prioritises effectively and keeps delivery moving.
• Communicates confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Can challenge senior stakeholders constructively and explain your reasoning.
• Understands that successful technology change is as much about people and adoption as architecture.
• Takes ownership and follows things through.
• Enjoys working in a fast-moving environment where not everything has already been defined.

What success looks like

Within your first 6-12 months:

• We have a clear, prioritised data, systems, automation and AI roadmap.
• Our core systems have cleaner, more scalable integrations and data flows.
• High-value manual processes have been removed or automated.
• AI and automation are embedded into how we operate, delivering measurable improvements to our systems and workflows.
• Technical decisions and architecture are better documented and governed.
• Teams understand what's changing, why and when.
• Leadership has confidence that our internal technology landscape can support the next stage of VantagePoint's growth.
