Job Description

The Role

As a Retail Data Analyst at NEXT, you will be at the heart of our commercial evolution, bridging the gap between raw data sets and the actionable insights that shape our business decisions.

Based at our Head Office and working alongside our central Retail team, you will design and build scalable reporting solutions that transform how we monitor and interpret performance. This isn't a role about simply managing numbers; it’s about making a genuine operational impact by automating legacy processes and delivering deep-dive analytics to optimize our day-to-day operations.

From day one, NEXT will support you with tailored training and development opportunities to ensure you have the tools, technical environment, and backing to thrive and grow your career with us.

What You’ll Take On

Collaborate with business colleagues to translate complex commercial needs into clear, tangible analytical solutions and actionable insights.

Query and analyze large-scale data from our modern lakehouse environment, using SQL or Python within Databricks to extract and prepare data for reporting.

Create inspiring, accessible visualisations in various formats to clearly showcase the KPIs and commercial trends that shape our future.

Evolve your expertise by keeping pace with technical advancements, finding innovative ways to embed advanced analytics into standard business reporting.

Empower the wider retail team by acting as an analytics subject matter expert, delivering training that drives high-quality self-service data exploration.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is quietly confident in their analytical ability and ready to take responsibility for delivering the right results. You should have a talent for explaining complex data trends to non-technical audiences, focusing on the findings and recommendations that truly matter.

A confidence in your analytical abilities, alongside a natural willingness to take ownership and deliver reliable, accurate results.

A talent for communication, with a proven ability to explain complex data trends to non-technical audiences, focusing on the findings and recommendations that truly matter.

Demonstrated expertise in building interactive, high-impact business reports, particularly utilizing Power BI and DAX.

Proficiency in using SQL or Python for thorough data manipulation, exploration, and ad-hoc analysis.

A solid understanding of foundational data modeling concepts and experience interfacing with modern cloud platforms like Databricks.

The resilience and organizational skills to work at pace, comfortably balancing multiple analytical tasks and fast-turnaround requests in a dynamic, fast-moving retail environment.

A collaborative mindset, ready to partner across different technology domains to support a single version of the truth across NEXT.
