Technical Data Delivery Owner
As a Technical Data Delivery Owner, you will be one of Slalom's delivery leaders within our Data Capability. You will take end-to-end accountability for the delivery of large-scale, strategic data and AI transformation programmes—bridging business strategy and technical execution to drive meaningful, measurable outcomes for our clients.
You will act as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, Slalom leadership, and our delivery teams—bringing deep programme leadership expertise, a strong commercial mindset, and the ability to translate complex data platform capabilities into compelling business value. You will also play a critical role in shaping how we deliver data programmes at scale, mentoring the next generation of delivery leaders, and contributing to the growth of Slalom's Data Delivery practice.
What will you do?
Strategic Programme Leadership
- Lead large-scale data and AI transformation programmes, migrations, and new data product builds, managing scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and resources to deliver profitable outcomes aligned to client objectives.
- Oversee a portfolio of concurrent data engagements across clients/accounts, accountable for delivery quality, margin, and client satisfaction at portfolio level.
- Drive organisational change through data delivery, transforming how clients operate and make decisions using data, beyond just platform delivery.
Delivery & Solution Ownership
- Act as primary delivery and solution owner across complex, multi-capability data engagements spanning engineering, strategy, governance, and data experience, making data-informed prioritisation and trade-offs.
- Evaluate technical solutions to understand current and future blockers to successful delivery, articulate the challenge and achieve team and client buy in for action, and devise solutions and delivery plans for their resolution.
- Partner with Solution Architects and workstream leads to co-own solution definition and delivery, ensuring scalability and adherence to architectural standards.
- Manage vendor and technology partners, evaluating platforms and holding partners accountable to outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Client Advisory
- Serve as primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating technical capabilities into business value and managing executive expectations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite stakeholders (CDO, CTO, CFO, CIO), influencing data strategy, operating models, and long-term transformation roadmaps.
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders, building lasting client relationships beyond individual engagements.
Commercial Growth & Pursuit Leadership
- Lead or contribute to strategic data pursuits, shaping delivery approaches, translating client needs into scoped and resourced plans, and supporting wins for large, complex engagements.
- Partner with Pursuit and Sales Solution Leads to ensure seamless transition from pursuit to delivery and alignment to client expectations and strategic goals.
- Develop proposals and statements of work articulating business value, outcomes, and ROI.
Agile Leadership & Team Enablement
- Coach and enable delivery teams through agile practices and mindset, facilitating scrum ceremonies, managing backlogs, and maintaining delivery momentum at programme scale.
- Set clear development priorities and empower teams to deliver with pace and quality.
Practice Development & Thought Leadership
- Build, scale, or transform data delivery capability by defining methodology, supporting hiring, and establishing quality standards.
- Mentor and develop Data Delivery Owners to independently lead advanced programmes.
- Contribute to external thought leadership through publications, events, or client forums.
What you'll bring
- 10+ years’ experience in data programme delivery (or similar), with a track record of leading large-scale, complex data transformations end-to-end in consulting environments.
- Experience owning delivery accountability across multiple data capabilities, including staffing and budget ownership.
- Proven ability to influence C-suite stakeholders (CDO, CTO, CFO) and build trusted advisor relationships beyond single engagements.
- Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and architecture, including data lakes, warehouses, ETL/ELT, AWS/Azure/GCP, and tools such as Snowflake and Databricks.
- Expertise in agile delivery, including coaching teams, scrum ceremonies, backlog management, and iterative delivery at scale.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience shaping and winning data pursuits and developing proposals/SOWs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management, translating complex technical concepts into clear business value narratives.
- Hands-on experience in data / solution architecture, data engineering or data governance & quality roles
- Experience managing vendors and technology partners, evaluating platforms, and holding them accountable to outcomes.
- Relevant certifications desirable (PgMP, SAFe Agilist, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or advanced SAFe).
