Director, Clinical Technology and Innovation

We are seeking a senior Digital Health & Innovation leader to drive the strategy, design, and adoption of cutting-edge digital and mobile health solutions across global clinical trials. This role sits at the intersection of clinical technology, solution consulting, and commercial delivery, partnering with sponsors and internal stakeholders to shape innovative, patient-centric study designs that accelerate outcomes and differentiate our offering in the market.

You will lead global subject matter expert teams across EMEA, APAC, and the US, while acting as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal teams—owning digital health strategy from early engagement and proposal development through to implementation and delivery.

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Management of Digital Health and Innovation SME resources within EMEA, APAC and US regions.
  • Provide leadership and development of direct reports and junior team members including hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring etc. and ensure that utilization of billable team members is maintained.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external digital partners and sponsors and monitor all issues and use the appropriate methods of communication to resolve escalations.
  • Maintain sponsor relationships by providing consulting around the best design solutions based on study protocols.
  • Educate and support cross-functionally across the Fortrea business on digital and mobile health processes and activities.
  • Assure compliance with Fortrea standard project management methodologies and SOPs.
  • Maintain and support strategic partnerships with sponsors by taking the lead as the key Digital Health and Innovation subject matter expert.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders including Operational Strategy and Planning, Business Development, Global Project Delivery and key Functional Areas groups during proposal development, early customer engagement and bid defence meetings to develop project winning innovative strategies.
  • Partner with the Global Head Digital Health and Innovation to create clear differentiation and ensure rapid market uptake of Fortrea solutions.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders including Operational Strategy and Planning, Business Development, Global Project Delivery and key Functional Areas groups during proposal development, early customer engagement and bid defence meetings to develop project winning innovative strategies.
  • Develop the optimal organizational support structure and strategies that will enable pullthrough and cross selling across all verticals of digital and mobile health solutions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop go-to-market and client engagement strategies to accelerate market adoption of Digital and Mobile Health.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure Digital and Mobile Health have a clear market presence including writing papers, attending and speaking at conferences and symposiums.
  • Collaborate with Global Regulatory Affairs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape and use knowledge to inform Fortrea’s market positioning to drive competitive differentiation.
  • Drive initiatives within Digital Health and Innovation and act as group representatives on Fortrea business critical workstreams and initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and development of direct reports and junior team members including hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring etc. and ensure that utilization of billable team members is maintained.
  • Act as point of escalation for operational delivery and ensure swift resolution of any digital and mobile health issues to maximise execution efficiency.

Experience (Minimum Required)

  • Possesses an understanding of clinical research, include ePRO, eConsent and Telehealth.
  • Ability to mitigate complex issues and minimize escalations.
  • Ability to identify and propose process improvements.
  • Proven skills in project management and best practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills, public speaking, presentation and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work independently in advisory capacity.
  • Experience in leading project teams and meetings.
  • 5% travel required.

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Bachelors degree required: Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years’ experience in project management.
  • 5+ years of clinical operations and/or clinical data management experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with 6+ years’ relevant work experience with a focus on Digital Health technologies.
  • Experience with digital and mobile health strategy implementation on global studies at a sponsor, CRO or vendor is required.
  • Strong project management skills, and ability to effectively lead and collaborate with various business functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory guidelines and global regulations, including GCP/ICH, FDA/EMA/CHMP, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP validation requirements and especially those relating to digital and mobile health.
  • High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility and cross functional collaboration.
  • Must be able to perform under tight timeframes and execute problem solving skills.
  • Proven track record of facilitating customer design / solution session for complex application solution architecture.
  • Ability to understand, communicate and manage across the entire project life cycle.
  • Should have prior experience of defining implementation strategy which should include defining end to end test scenarios based on the complexity of upstream/downstream integrations and data flow.
