About the Company

A c.£160m turnover division within a fast-growing group operating across a number of integrated product divisions serving the construction and housebuilding sectors. The group is on a clear path towards £1bn turnover, built through a combination of organic growth and acquisition, and this division is expected to become one of its most significant contributors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group CEO, the Divisional Managing Director will take full P&L ownership of a portfolio of specialist businesses within the Building Services & Solutions division. Some are growing organically; others have been acquired and require integration, right-sizing and operational improvement. Each is led by an entrepreneurial MD who knows their specialist market intimately but needs support, guidance and oversight to scale.

This is a role for someone who wants to prove themselves at divisional level before stepping into wider group opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Own the P&L for a c.£160m division and build a credible plan to grow it materially
• Integrate acquired businesses — bringing them onto common commercial, operational and reporting standards without stifling what made them successful
• Drive operational improvement and margin discipline across the portfolio, including restructuring and right-sizing where required
• Lead, coach and hold to account a group of entrepreneurial founder-leaders and MDs
• Identify and unlock cross-selling and synergy opportunities with the group's other divisions
• Support the group's buy-and-build agenda, from target assessment through to post-deal integration
• Report with clarity at group board level

Qualifications

• A track record of growing a division or business unit of comparable scale
• Demonstrable experience overseeing multiple businesses simultaneously, including both organic growth stories and acquired assets requiring integration and turnaround
• A background in industrials — manufacturing, construction, building services or associated sectors
• Proven ability to move across different sectors and get up to speed quickly
• Highly commercial, with the credibility to restructure, reorganise and set direction across businesses with very different cultures
• Comfortable operating in an acquisitive, fast-moving group environment
• The ambition and capability to progress to group-level leadership
