Embedded Security Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a Security Engineer to join a client team based in Manchester. You will support the delivery and maintenance of access control and CCTV systems across the client's portfolio, assisting with project implementation, system administration, troubleshooting, and ongoing operational support.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in physical security systems who is looking to further develop their technical skills within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and client stakeholders to help deliver projects and support day-to-day operational requirements.
This is an on-site role based in the Manchester area, requiring attendance five days per week. Occasional travel within the UK and Europe may be required.
What you will do
- Support the implementation of access control and CCTV projects, including system programming, testing, commissioning, and project close-out activities.
- Provide remote support for technical issues and break-fix incidents across client sites.
- Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities and reactive support requirements.
- Participate in the Request for Change (RFC) process to support maintenance and project activities.
- Maintain commissioning documentation and assist with project handovers.
- Keep project documentation and commissioning records accurate and up to date.
- Travel occasionally within the UK and Europe to support project delivery and technical support requirements.
- Assist with the configuration and administration of C-Cure and Victor systems, including system updates and user requirements.
- Support the monitoring and management of incidents through a 24/7 Command Centre environment.
- Liaise with vendors and technical support teams to assist in fault resolution and system improvements.
- Monitor technical bulletins and communicate relevant information relating to system performance and known issues.
- Support project delivery activities, including requirements gathering, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Escalate technical or operational issues to senior engineers where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across global teams and functions.
- Assist in the preparation of reports relating to incidents, system performance, and service delivery.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
What we are looking for
- Experience working with physical security systems, including access control and CCTV platforms.
- Experience with C-Cure 9000, Genetec Security Center Omnicast / Synergis, or Victor VMS is desirable.
- Understanding of physical security technologies, ICT infrastructure, networking, and server environments.
- Previous experience supporting security system installations, upgrades, or migrations.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop technical expertise within enterprise security systems.
