Job Description
Leading a flagship urban heat network into its next phase
Energetik, Enfield Council’s wholly owned heat network company, is entering a pivotal phase as it prepares for sale and transition to new ownership. Recognised within the London Infrastructure Delivery Plan, the business represents a strategically important, investor‑ready platform in London’s low‑carbon heat market, with significant long-term growth potential.
We are seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead the company through this exciting but demanding stage, shaping its future and delivering a successful outcome for the Council and customers.
This is a high-profile, transaction-led leadership role. You will take ownership of preparing Energetik for market, positioning it as a credible, investable infrastructure asset, and leading the business through a major commercial transaction.
A critical part of the role will be to strengthen the company’s commercial position ahead of sale—including progressing its development pipeline and converting opportunities into contracted connections and long-term revenue agreements, enhancing both certainty and value.
In addition, the company is continuing to deliver infrastructure, such as utilising Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund grant to build out the network to connect eight schools.
You will bring strong commercial judgement, experience of company sale or investment processes, and the ability to engage confidently with investors and advisers. Just as importantly, you will maintain operational performance and stakeholder confidence throughout.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a scalable, infrastructure‑grade business at the point of transition, combining public sector purpose with commercial delivery in one of the UK’s most dynamic and fast‑growing sectors.
