Environment Health Safety Lead

We are looking for an experienced EHS Lead to shape and deliver the Environmental, Health & Safety strategy across a growing engineering and manufacturing business during a major period of expansion.


Based in Rugby, this role will play a key part in supporting a significant factory extension project to expand steam turbine manufacturing capability, while ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, and site security.


Location: Rugby

Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE + 15% performance bonus + company car


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement the long-term EHS strategy aligned with business growth and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide EHS leadership for major CAPEX and construction projects, ensuring full compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee site security strategy, contractor management, and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation including PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, RIDDOR, and CDM.
  • Lead environmental initiatives covering emissions, waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainability objectives.
  • Manage audits, investigations, risk assessments, and engagement with regulators and senior stakeholders.


About You

  • NEBOSH qualified (Chartered or working towards Chartered status) or degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive EHS leadership experience within heavy manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale factory expansion, construction, or CAPEX projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation, CDM regulations, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong risk management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.


Desirable

  • Experience within power generation, rotating machinery, or turbine manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Additional qualifications in fire safety, environmental management, or occupational hygiene.


Additional Information
