L.E.K. Consulting is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Business Development Manager to help drive the continued growth of our European Industrials Practice.
What is the role like?
This is a senior, highly visible business development role at the heart of L.E.K.’s European Industrials Practice.
Working closely with the Head of the European Industrials Practice / Global Industrials Co-Head, Industrials Partners across Europe and the European Chief Commercial Officer, you will help shape and execute the Practice’s commercial agenda. Your focus will be on identifying where L.E.K. can build relationships, creating opportunities for meaningful senior-level engagement and helping convert those relationships into commercial opportunities.
This isn’t simply a pipeline-management role. You’ll act as a commercial thought partner to senior Partners, bringing an informed perspective on which clients and prospects to prioritise, how best to engage them and where market developments create opportunities for L.E.K.
The role has a European remit and will involve working across sectors, accounts and geographies, alongside Partners, the DACH Industrials BDM, Marketing and other colleagues across the firm.

Fluent English is required, while additional European languages — particularly German and/or French — would be an advantage.

- Building and developing relationships with C-suite executives and other senior decision-makers across the European Industrials landscape.
- Partnering with senior L.E.K. leaders to shape and execute sector, sub-sector, account and service-line business development strategies.
- Identifying and prioritising the companies, accounts and individuals where L.E.K. has the strongest opportunity to build relationships and win work.
- Supporting Partners with targeted outreach, relationship development and effective follow-up.
- Driving disciplined key-account planning and helping progress opportunities through often long and complex sales cycles.
- Using L.E.K.’s intellectual property, case studies and sector perspectives to create relevant, high-quality reasons to engage clients.
- Spotting executive moves, strategic developments, market events and other triggers that could create new opportunities.
- Working with Marketing on targeted campaigns, content, conferences and senior client events.
- Maintaining strong visibility of the commercial pipeline through CRM and providing analysis and practical recommendations on business development activity and outcomes.
- Helping embed strong commercial discipline and business development best practice across the wider Industrials team.

- Relevant experience in business development, client development, key account management, consulting or another commercial role within consulting, strategy or professional services.
- The confidence and credibility to engage effectively with C-suite and senior executive stakeholders.
- A strong understanding of professional services and the ability to translate complex strategic issues into compelling client-development opportunities.
- Experience helping senior stakeholders build relationships and turn opportunities into meaningful commercial conversations.
- Strong commercial judgement, client empathy and a clear orientation towards relationship development and revenue generation.
- The patience and discipline to manage long, complex selling cycles and multiple senior relationships over time.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate across teams, functions and geographies.
- Intellectual curiosity and an ability to spot the patterns, priorities and market triggers that can open the door to a client conversation.
