An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join Toshiba's Smart Metering Division. Reporting directly to the division head, you will play a key role in providing financial leadership, business partnering, statutory compliance support, and detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making across the business.
This is a varied and hands-on role offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders in both the UK and Japan. You will be responsible for ensuring robust financial control, driving continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality management information to support the growth and success of the division.

Essential Requirements

You will be responsible for ensuring robust financial control, driving continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality management information to support the growth and success of the division.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and analysis.
- Provide financial and commercial support to divisional leadership, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve business performance.
- Oversee key finance functions, including treasury, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed assets.
- Prepare and review monthly forecasts, annual budgets, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flow reporting.
- Manage statutory accounts preparation, external audits and corporate compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, IFRS/US GAAP requirements and corporate reporting guidelines.
- Manage tax and VAT compliance activities, working closely with external advisers where required.
- Support and develop a Financial Accountant, providing coaching and guidance.
- Lead finance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the division.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, including senior management teams in the UK and Japan.

Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant experience within financial or management accounting roles.
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience of statutory accounts, audit processes and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working within a multinational organisation.
- Knowledge of Oracle Financials.
- Experience of working with international stakeholders and reporting requirements.
