Job Description

L&G Asset Management, is looking to hire a Fixed Income Trader to join the Global Markets team in London.

At L&G the Global Markets team is responsible for four main activities; Global Trading, Money Market Fund Management, Securities Lending and ETF Capital Markets. This role will sit within Global Trading, focusing on Rates products, and working as part of a team of professionals who execute over £750bn in government bonds and derivatives every year.

We are looking for a detail orientated, enthusiastic, proven self-starter with a strong work ethic to focus on trading G10 government bonds and associated derivatives (including cleared interest rate swaps). This is an execution role with a high degree of interaction with portfolio managers, counterparties, and clients. As such, excellent stakeholder management skills are required. Knowledge of government bond markets, particularly the UK, and associated trading platforms is preferred, as is a strong quantitative skillset.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Executing a range of Fixed Income Rates orders in line with regulatory standards, internal policies, procedures and risk management protocols
  • Providing investment teams with market commentary, daily feedback and guidance on traded and open positions
  • Developing trading protocols, including building automated workflows and exploring opportunities to leverage AI
  • Building trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, counterparties and clients
  • Partnering with the Trading Research team to analyse, process and interpret trading data to improve client outcomes
  • Expanding your knowledge across other instruments to provide effective cover across the trading desk
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the Global Markets team, including traders in Hong Kong and Chicago

Who we’re looking for:

Education & Background

  • A degree or equivalent practical experience, ideally within finance, economics or another quantitative discipline
  • Progression towards professional qualifications (IMC, CFA) is advantageous

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience within financial markets, asset management or trading, with the capability and ambition to develop as a Fixed Income Trader
  • Knowledge of government bond markets, particularly the UK market, and associated trading platforms
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to organise and prioritise multiple assignments
  • A collaborative approach and confidence communicating with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels
