About This Role
We are seeking to appoint a Geography Teacher to join Maiden Erlegh School of Reading on a fixed term maternity cover basis. This is an opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic teacher to plan, resource and deliver highly effective Geography lessons, support strong student progress and contribute to a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment.

The successful candidate will teach across the allocated timetable, contribute to curriculum delivery and development, and support students to achieve strong academic outcomes. They will also act as a form tutor, contribute to pastoral provision and support wider school life in line with Maiden Erlegh Trust expectations.

Key Responsibilities
The postholder will:
- Plan and deliver highly effective lessons in line with Trust and school schemes of work.
- Motivate and inspire students to engage positively in their learning and aim high in their academic achievement.
- Use assessment information to monitor progress, close gaps and support informed intervention.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and student conduct.
- Create a positive, nurturing and safe classroom environment where students feel supported and challenged.
- Provide clear feedback, reports and references relating to individuals and groups of students.
- Communicate productively with students and parents regarding progress and strategies for improvement.
- Act as a form tutor and contribute to effective tutor provision and pastoral support.
- Support extra-curricular and whole-school events where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school and Maiden Erlegh Trust.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Has
- A good quality degree.
- PGCE, or equivalent, in secondary education.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Genuine enthusiasm for Geography and a desire to communicate this to students.
- The ability to devise and implement effective teaching strategies.
- Strong classroom practice and effective behaviour management.
- A commitment to overcoming barriers to learning and supporting all students to achieve their potential.
- The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
- Good organisation, planning and administrative skills.
- A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school and share the values of Maiden Erlegh Trust.
