About us
Structa is a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy of around 40 people, working across four UK offices for private and public sector clients. Our projects run from bespoke homes to major regeneration and housing schemes for leading housebuilders and commercial clients.
We were founded in 2004 by four engineers who wanted to build something better — a business that serves clients well by bringing together a broad, talented team and giving them the space to do their best work. Twenty years on, 80% repeat business tells us we're still getting it right.
Growing the next generation of engineers has been part of the plan from day one.
The roles
Civil Engineering (Swindon) - You'll join a busy team delivering fully coordinated infrastructure design on housing, regeneration and commercial schemes. From day one you'll work on real projects: highway geometry, drainage, SuDS, earthworks, and statutory liaison with highways authorities and water companies. You'll learn how to balance technical ambition with commercial reality — and start building the skills that turn a graduate into a chartered engineer.
Structural Engineering (Hemel Hempstead) - You'll work across the full range of structural problems, from surveys and investigations through to high-rise buildings, multi-storey basements, listed building refurbishments and large housing schemes. Working across steel, concrete, timber and masonry gives you the breadth of judgement a good structural engineer needs - and you'll build client-facing skills alongside technical ones from the start.
Your development
Both roles come with a clear, supported route to professional qualification - through ICE for Civil, and ICE or IStructE for Structural. You'll get a Supervising Engineer, a training record from day one, regular progress reviews, paid study leave, paid exam leave, and your professional membership fees reimbursed.
What we're looking for
- A relevant accredited engineering degree (civil or structural)
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Clear communication — technical and non-technical
- A collaborative, can-do attitude
- The right to live and work in the UK
A full UK driving licence and relevant placement experience are both a bonus.
