Groundwork Foreman

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Groundwork Foreman to manage groundwork operations and lead gangs on a busy project in Sittingbourne. You will take responsibility for health & safety, quality control, environmental standards, and programme delivery across all groundwork elements, ensuring full compliance with industry and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementing and maintaining Health & Safety Management Systems, including delivering risk assessment briefings and toolbox talks
• Managing operatives and subcontractors, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to programme
• Overseeing quality control and ensuring NHBC compliance across all groundwork activities
• Demonstrating expert knowledge across all groundwork elements including drainage, ground beams, sub-structure concrete, externals, roads, and oversite slabs
• Coordinating and managing subcontractors to ensure performance, safety, and quality standards are met
• Ensuring correct plant, materials, and labour are on site to meet programme requirements, including effective material management
• Carrying out daily plant supervision checks to ensure safe operation and compliance
• Ensuring safe systems of work when excavating around buried services
• Reading site programmes and translating them into practical daily work plans
• Supporting adoption processes and compliance with authorities such as KCC, ICOSA, and IWNL
• Maintaining strong environmental responsibility and awareness, ensuring site practices minimise environmental impact
• Demonstrating commercial awareness of site activities
• Building strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive problem-solving
• Completing IT induction and training programme within the first 1-3 months
  
  

Requirements

• CITB 5-Day SMSTS
• CSCS Supervisor Qualification
• First Aid at Work Certification
• Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
• Reliable, punctual and able to work well with other trades
• Right to work in the UK
  
  

Desirable

• CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Excavator +/- 10t Tracked*
• CPCS / NPORS* Forward Tipping Dumper
• CPCS / NPORS* Ride-On Roller
• CPCS / NPORS* Telehandler
• Please note: to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards that are CSCS-affiliated and carry the CSCS hologram. If you do not currently meet this requirement, please still get in touch - we are happy to guide you through the transfer process.
