A leading boutique law firm in London is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead its risk and regulatory function, acting as COLP and MLRO.


Working closely with Partners and senior management, you will own the firm's compliance framework, with particular responsibility for AML, sanctions, client onboarding, matter initiation and regulatory risk.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm's compliance and regulatory function, ensuring compliance with SRA, AML and sanctions requirements.
  • Act as the primary regulatory contact with the SRA and other relevant bodies.
  • Provide guidance on conduct, conflicts, ethics and accounts matters.
  • Own and develop the firm's AML, sanctions and compliance policies, monitoring and controls.
  • Oversee sanctions compliance for payments and work closely with Accounts and fee earners.
  • Deliver compliance training and advise Partners on regulatory developments and emerging risks.
  • Lead internal compliance investigations, audits and file reviews.


Key Requirements

  • Significant senior-level compliance, risk or regulatory experience, ideally as a COLP, COFA, MLRO or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations, AML requirements and sanctions regimes applicable to law firms.
  • Strong experience managing compliance within professional services and developing firm-wide compliance frameworks.
  • Experience handling financial crime, confidentiality and ethical issues.
  • Credibility and confidence to advise and influence Partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud prevention and regulatory risk.
