We are seeking a passionate and driven Head of UK Sales (Acquiring) to lead our UK team focused on expansion in the local market in the United Kingdom. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a dynamic and diverse sales team dedicated to identifying key prospects, acquiring new clients, and driving market share growth. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in the acquiring space, demonstrating a strong understanding of acquiring solutions, market trends, and the needs of businesses in this space. They should be a leader, with proven experience growing and leading teams, as well as still being involved in bringing new opportunities and revenue to the business. This is a true player-coach role, leadership and revenue ownership go hand in hand.

Reporting Line: Group Head of Sales (Acquiring)

Location: Hybrid set up from our London Office in Holborn.

What you will do:

  • Developing and refining the sales strategy for the UK acquiring market, including expanding awareness and driving sales of POS and acquiring services
  • Identifying growth opportunities and key market segments to increase market penetration and revenue
  • Collaborating with the leadership team to align the UK acquiring and POS strategy with broader company objectives
  • Staying up to date with market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions
  • Leading and inspiring a high-performing UK sales team, ensuring targets are achieved and performance is consistently monitored
  • Fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Recruiting, training, and retaining top sales talent, ensuring the team is equipped with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to succeed
  • Continuously refining and optimising the UK sales process to improve efficiency, scalability, and overall performance
  • Implementing best practices in lead generation, pipeline management, and deal closing
  • Using CRM tools and sales analytics to provide accurate forecasting, reporting, and commercial insight
  • Streamlining sales cycles and improving conversion rates across the team
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams, including Marketing, Product, Client Success, Risk, and Legal, to ensure sales efforts align with wider business goals
  • Providing market feedback to support product development, innovation, and stronger market positioning
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners to support the expansion of payabl.'s acquiring services in the UK
  • Supporting businesses of all sizes by providing solutions and strategies to help them grow and succeed in their markets
  • Driving revenue growth and establishing a strong commercial presence in both new and existing markets
  • Ensuring that all sales operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements, legal standards, and internal company policies
  • Working closely with Risk and Legal teams to mitigate risks associated with client contracts, partnerships, and commercial engagements

  • Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in the payments and acquiring industry, with a deep understanding of products similar to payabl.'s offerings
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing sales teams, particularly in the UK acquiring market
  • Sales Strategy Development: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute robust sales strategies that drive revenue and market expansion
  • Revenue Generation: History of driving significant revenue growth, consistently exceeding targets
  • Inspirational Leadership: A strong leader who can energize teams, foster a high-performance culture, and mentor sales professionals
  • Product and Market Understanding: In-depth understanding of product-market fit within the payments space and the ability to position products effectively
  • Growth-Oriented: Experience in high-growth environments with a focus on scaling teams and strategies
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong experience working closely with Marketing, Product, and Client Success teams to align sales strategies
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate and lead in fast-paced, evolving industry environments
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Compliance Awareness: Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the UK payments market

Hiring Process:

  • Initial Interview - A 30-40 minute conversation with our Talent Acquisition team to discuss your background, experience, and career goals
  • Video Interview (Hireflix) - A short, asynchronous video assessment (approx. 5 minutes) where you'll respond to a few pre-set questions, helping us understand your communication style, key skills, and behavioural fit for the role
  • In-Depth Interview - A 60-minute interview with the Hiring Manager, our Group Head of Sales UK, to explore your skills, achievements, and alignment with the role
  • Final Interview - A 30-40 minute interview online with C-Level leadership to align on behavioral traits and ready got to market strategy, as well as to gain further insight into our vision and business priorities
  • An in person meeting at the Holborn, London Office to meet the team
