Shape the Future of Safety Across Electricity Transmission Substations
This newly created role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to safety across critical national infrastructure. You’ll help shape the zonal approach, build strong foundations and deliver lasting improvements across electricity transmission substations.
You’ll cover a varied region stretching from Shrewsbury to Norwich, connecting with 50 sites and colleagues across the zone. A Midlands base—ideally near Birmingham, Leicester or Northampton—will put you at the heart of the area. As regular travel is an important part of the role, you’ll need a full driving licence and will receive a company car.

- Setting the direction for SHES strategy, culture and performance across the zone.
- Being the trusted voice on SHES while leading and developing a dispersed team of five.
- Championing statutory and internal compliance across electricity transmission substations.
- Keeping critical emergency, fire, environmental and asbestos actions on track.
- Preparing sites and teams for audits and driving alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Turning data and insight into smarter decisions, stronger controls and better performance.
- Proven experience leading health, safety, environmental and security compliance in an operational setting.
- Experience leading and developing direct reports by setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback and supporting effective performance.
- A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends and translate them into clear, practical action.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across teams, sites and stakeholders.
- A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly across the central region.
- A starting salary up to £68,500 pa + Bonus + Paid overtime + Company Car.
- 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days, 37 Hours - Monday to Friday.
- Contributory pension scheme – Employee up to 6% - Company up to 12% - max total 18%.
