The post holder is to undertake tasks and duties delegated by the department manager or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the urology team, with other departments and wards within the hospital, and the wider community to meet the needs of the patient, following policy and procedures of the hospital.
The post holder will be covering all types of clinics, assisting in the cystoscopy suite, assisting with procedures and interventions, as well as covering administration duties.
You will be expected to become competent in taking blood, catheterising patients, performing flow rates and bladder scans, as well as other urological skills.
We are seeking a motivated, proactive person with vision and maturity. Previous urology experience would be desirable. You should be willing to learn and be an active member of a small team of nurses.
We are a supportive team of nurses dedicated to carrying out high standards of care and developing the skills and knowledge of all our team members.
All applicants must have a care certificate from an NHS Trust.
Assisting the multi disciplinary team with the smooth running of the clinics in Urology with venepuncture, flow rates, bladder scans, and urinalysis.
Assisting the multi disciplinary team in the cystoscopy rooms, preparing patients for the procedure, and during the procedure.
Assisting a registered member of staff with the weekly trial without catheter (TWOC) clinic, including looking after the patient all day, including dietary and fluid requirements.

- Assisting with minor urology procedures outside theatre where appropriate.
- Administrative duties as required, scanning documents, answering the phone, etc.
- Perform and report clinical observation of patient’s temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, BM measurements.
- Know how to respond in a health emergency.
- Undertake duties associated with maintaining a clean, safe working environment in accordance with local health regulations, which may include general cleaning of equipment, work area, ordering resources, stocking and replenishing, transferring patients to the transport lounge, managing notes, and maintaining patients' confidential information, safeguarding our patients, and escalating concerns, etc.
