How You'll Make a Difference

As a Housing Options Advisor within the HomeChoice team, you will play a key role in preventing homelessness by supporting individuals and families to access and sustain appropriate accommodation.

The HomeChoice Service delivers a high-quality, comprehensive housing access service for households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Secure, suitable housing is vital in stabilising communities, reducing inequalities, enhancing safety and helping to prevent crime.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Working closely with households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, you will provide advice and support to help resolve their housing situation.
  • It will be your responsibility to carry out assessments to determine the council's statutory duties.
  • Drawing on your knowledge and expertise, you will work with households to develop personalised housing plans, identifying the support they need and assessing their eligibility for homelessness prevention services.
  • You will maintain regular and effective contact with households, ensuring they remain engaged and supported whilst working with the council to secure a sustainable housing solution.

What We Need From You

  • It is essential that you have experience in a similar role, either within housing or a related specialist environment.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of housing options, including homelessness, alongside and understanding of the policies, processes and legislation in a similar service area.
  • We are looking for someone who has the ability to carry out financial assessments in relation to housing options, with a basic knowledge of welfare benefits.
  • Given the nature of the role, you will need strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload, respond to urgent emergency assessments and identify and escalate issues where appropriate.

What You Need To Know

  • Your salary is pro-rata to hours worked.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) basic check is obtained.

Interviews will be held on 15th July 2026.
