HV Commissioning Engineer (11kV to 132kV)

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + Benefits

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to join a growing specialist engineering business delivering testing and commissioning services across power distribution, transmission, renewable energy, and industrial networks. This role offers exposure to technically varied projects throughout the UK, working on systems from 11kV to 132kV.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out FAT, SAT, cold and hot commissioning activities.
• Perform primary and secondary injection testing.
• Test transformers, switchgear, cables, CTs, and VTs.
• Conduct protection relay testing, configuration, and scheme proving.
• Complete functional, point-to-point, intertripping, SCADA, metering, and communications testing.
• Support G99 compliance and witness testing.
• Diagnose faults and resolve technical issues.
• Produce commissioning reports, test records, and handover documentation.
• Liaise with clients, DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' HV testing and commissioning experience.
• Experience working on systems from 11kV to 132kV.
• Strong knowledge of protection and control systems.
• Experience with Omicron, Megger, or similar testing equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Good understanding of HV safety rules, RAMS, and commissioning procedures.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.

Preferred Qualifications

• HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, GE, or SEL relays.
• SAP status, National Grid Person, BESC, ECS/CSCS, or G99 commissioning experience.
