At the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), we provide security in retirement for our members and millions of people throughout the UK who belong to defined benefit (DB) pension schemes. Through the PPF and Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), we compensate members for their pensions after the employer funding their pension becomes insolvent. In total, we look after over 400,000 members across the PPF and FAS. With over £30 billion in assets under management, our investments support long-term economic growth across the UK.
Our award-winning team of around 450 professionals has earned the IPE UK Pension Fund of the Year title three times in seven years. We work closely with government and industry partners to improve outcomes for scheme members, employers, and the broader pension system—playing a vital role in strengthening retirement security nationwide.
We’re looking for an Investment Associate with experience in the Infrastructure asset class to join our Private Markets Team at an exciting time, following a significant increase in allocation and with around US$1bn expected to be deployed over the next two years.
In this role, you’ll support the Portfolio Manager across the full range of portfolio management activity, with a particular focus on infrastructure co-investments. This will include monitoring, analysing and reporting on key portfolio metrics, as well as supporting the underwriting of new co-investment, direct investment and fund opportunities. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders while also engaging with external managers, co-investors and other market counterparties.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in the infrastructure asset class, gained within an investment or finance environment, with a broad understanding of key investment concepts and experience evaluating investment opportunities. Specific infrastructure asset class and product knowledge will be needed, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, to support returns forecasting and scenario analysis.
You’ll also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to promote and articulate ideas to different stakeholder groups internally and externally. Good attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities will also be important. Finally, we can offer significant career development through internal and external training, mentoring and hands-on support to help you deepen your expertise in infrastructure and private markets over time.
