Junior Data Engineer
Join a major UK public sector data programme through a leading global consultancy, building and transforming the data that underpins critical government services. This is a junior role with a real ladder: you'll work hands-on from day one, and we'll train you onsite to close any gaps in your tech stack as you scale up.
What You'll Own:
→ Build and run data mapping and transformation work across live public sector data streams
→ Take ownership of discrete data engineering and analysis tasks, paired closely with senior team members
→ Develop and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, from build through to live operation
→ Write and optimise SQL to support reliable, accurate data delivery
→ Support data quality, testing, and performance against client acceptance criteria
→ Produce clear, audit-ready documentation for compliance and knowledge transfer
You Must Have:
✅ Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write and work through real data problems
✅ Some exposure to Azure Data Factory or the wider Azure stack, including Azure Functions
✅ Any NoSQL or Databricks experience is a strong plus, not a requirement
✅ An analytical mindset and genuine appetite to learn and scale quickly
✅ Strong communication skills and the ability to work within cross-functional teams
✅ UK-based with the right to work, and clearable to BPSS as a minimum, with SC a strong advantage
The Detail:
You do not need the full tech stack to apply. If you have strong SQL and the drive to learn, we provide structured onsite training to map a clear development path and build you up across the rest of the stack.
We hire for potential and invest in our people. We particularly welcome applications from candidates across all backgrounds and communities underrepresented in tech.
