Performs routine laboratory sample processing

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Follows the laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Operates laboratory equipment.
  • Recognizes deviations from expected results and follows up appropriately.
  • Processes and ships PK samples according to study specific instructions.
  • Performs phlebotomy as needed.
  • Participates in the collection of biological specimens. Evaluates and solves problems related to the collection and processing of specimens.
  • Facilitates the workflow through the laboratory to ensure completion of processing in a timely manner.
  • Operates and utilizes all communications systems available in the laboratory; telephones, copiers, facsimile machines and pagers.
  • Maintains and cleans laboratory equipment.
  • Inventories reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Handles hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance with laboratory policy and procedure.
  • Washes laboratory glassware and maintains general laboratory cleanliness.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Supports and participates in Corporate and Department initiatives regarding quality system implementation, maintenance, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • All other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications (Minimum Required)

  • USA: Associate degree or equivalent.
  • EUROPE: Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.

Experience (Minimum Required)

  • USA: 1 year of laboratory experience. Additional laboratory experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • EUROPE: Typically, 1 year of laboratory experience. Additional laboratory experience may be substituted for education requirements.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • May work with potentially hazardous materials
  • Must be able to see (distinguish colors) and hear.
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, including a computer keyboard, for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Must be able to stand and/or bend for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Potential travel for cross-site support needs or external training needs.
