Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a leading food manufacturing business in Hirwaun, Wales. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
- Support equipment start-ups, changeovers, calibrations, and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS.
- Work closely with production teams to improve reliability and performance.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, hygiene, and food safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering qualification (or recognised trade qualification).
- Maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and basic PLC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and Health & Safety awareness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food-safe engineering practices.
- Experience with automated production, packaging equipment, robotics, or vision systems.
- Lean or Six Sigma experience.
