Department Ops & Facilities
Key Responsibilities Main Purpose of Job:
- As a EHS manager, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation and review of Immunocore’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including those relating to wellbeing. The primary objective is to support and work with key stakeholders to create a workplace that is safe and healthy for both employees, contractors and visitors while taking account of sustainability and budgetary targets. The role will take the lead in reviewing EHS systems, their effectiveness and advising the EHS Director where improvements are required. The role will also include developing and maintaining a high-level of cooperation and coordination between EHS, facilities, Research teams and project activities to ensure health and safety is fully considered and understood. The EHS Manager role will also provide support to other team members and the wider EHS support groups.
- Audit, assess and develop current EHS systems and activities.
- Support and develop the EHS support groups (Mental health first-aiders, Safety Reps, Ergo Champions, Fire Marshals, Sustainability Champions).
- Lead fire safety strategy and advise on fire safety issues and provide recommendations.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to improve safety
- Drive corrective actions and improvements to safety practices
- Carry out Design safety reviews of relevant project work.
- Support projects in CDM (Construction, Design & Management) activities.
- Review and assess contractor risk assessment and method Statements (RAMS).
- Review and enhance the site control of contractors.
- Carry out near-miss, incident and accident investigations.
- Mentor Safety support groups and support their ongoing development.
- Review and analyse data for the site's electronic EHS systems ( e.g., Eco-online, ChemWatch).
- Provide professional EHS advice and support to employees as required.
- Work with the site to develop a safety behavioural program.
- Develop and facilitate EHS training courses and training modules, including toolbox talks
- Remain operational focused and work to tight deadlines with a solution focused mind set.
- Develop Gantt charts including critical path analysis, carryout route cause and failure mode analysis
- Act as deputy for EHS director
- Bachelors degree or equivalent.
- Relevant EHS qualification (ISOH).
- 10+ years of experience working in a similar position.
- Experience in bio tech research environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- In depth understand of health and safety legislation.
- Project management skills
- Understanding of the Role of Occupational health
- Understand of Quality systems (QMS)
- Understanding of 5s and six Sigma
