Job Title: Materials and Supply Controller

Reports to: Customer Operations Manager

This role is for someone who thrives on keeping stock, suppliers, and fulfilment running like clockwork. As Materials and Supply Controller, you'll be the person accountable for governing how stock moves through the business - from raising and owning purchase orders and managing supplier delivery, through to stock compliance.

This is a hybrid role in a fast-moving IoT business, split between desk-based planning and purchasing, and hands-on work managing final mile fulfilment. It suits a self-starter who's naturally organised, commercially minded about stock value, and comfortable owning their area end-to-end without close supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Stock Planning & Purchasing

·       Raise, govern, and own purchase orders end-to-end, ensuring timing supports the production plan and customer demand.

·       Manage relationships with external suppliers, including performance, lead times, and delivery reliability.

·       Apply structured purchasing decisions that balance stock availability against cost and cash 

·       Own all stock compliance and value processes, keeping records accurate and audit-ready, with real autonomy for governing how stock moves across the business.

·       Maintain BOM accuracy and product listing data, keeping them current as products change.

·       Monitor stock levels and flag risks before they become problems.

Fulfilment & Material Handling

·       Manage final-mile dispatch for customer orders, including quality-checking orders before they ship.

·       Support fulfilment operations where capacity is stretched

·       Oversee refurbishment and returns processes, ensuring stock is processed, graded, and returned to available inventory efficiently.

·       Identify and resolve bottlenecks across the stock-to-fulfilment journey.

Continuous Improvement

·       Identify opportunities to improve stock accuracy, supplier performance, and fulfilment efficiency.

·       Use data to inform stock planning and purchasing decisions.

·       Work with the Production Engineer and wider operations team to build repeatable, scalable processes as the business grows.

Skills and Qualifications:

·       Proven experience in a similar stock, materials, or supply role, ideally within a manufacturing, hardware, or IoT environment

·       A genuine self-starter who owns their area with minimal oversight and brings a supervisory mindset to how they work, even without direct reports.

·       Organised and action-orientated, with the ability to manage competing priorities across purchasing, stock, compliance, and fulfilment.

·       Strong supplier management skills, with confidence holding external suppliers to account.

·       Comfortable working with data to make stock and purchasing decisions.

·       Experience using MS Business Central
