Are you an experienced mechanical engineer looking for a role that offers variety, independence, and the opportunity to make a real impact?


We're seeking a Field Service Engineer Mechanical to support operations across Stockport and Leigh. This is a permanent, field-based position where you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of mechanical assets that are critical to operational performance.


You'll begin each day from home before travelling to sites across the region in a company-provided van, managing your own schedule and responding to both planned and reactive maintenance requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working across our Stockport and Leigh sites.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, diagnose mechanical faults, and implement effective long-term solutions.
  • Install, repair, and commission equipment including pumps, valves, pipework, actuators, mixers, and flow meters, while supporting asset upgrades and maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and asset information using company systems to support operational compliance and performance.
  • Work closely with operational teams, contractors, and engineering colleagues to deliver maintenance activities, capital projects, refurbishments, and equipment replacement programmes.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety standards, company procedures, and engineering best practice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, performance, and maintenance strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Effectively plan and manage your workload across sites in Stockport and Leigh, ensuring a timely and professional response to operational needs.
  • Work efficiently to deliver value while meeting operational, maintenance, and business objectives.


What You’ll Bring


  • Time-served apprenticeship, or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Practical experience in mechanical maintenance within industrial, utilities, manufacturing, or process environments, with strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and wider teams.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with the willingness to work across a range of environments, including confined spaces where required.
