Mechanical Fitter
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK engineering and manufacturing business looking to add an experienced Mechanical Fitter to its team.This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You’ll be joining a busy engineering environment where safety, quality and attention to detail are essential.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical assembly, fitting and installation of engineered equipment and components, working from technical drawings and specifications.
The Role:
- Carrying out mechanical fitting and assembly of equipment and components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately
- Drilling, tapping, bolting and general mechanical assembly
- Ensuring components are correctly aligned, fitted and secured
- Carrying out inspections and checks throughout the assembly process
- Identifying and reporting defects, faults or issues during fitting and assembly
- Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and housekeeping
- Following site health & safety procedures at all times
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Assembly Fitter or similar
- A mechanical engineering or manufacturing background
- Experience working from engineering drawings
- Good practical knowledge of mechanical assembly techniques
- Confidence using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment
- A strong understanding of health & safety within an engineering environment
- Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
A relevant mechanical engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience would be advantageous.
