Our client, a leading grid balancing IPP, is seeking a Media & Communications Officer to join their team in London. The successful candidate will support the delivery of clear, credible and disciplined communications across media, digital and owned channels.
The role provides hands-on support to ensure corporate messaging is translated into accurate, well-written and well-timed outputs. The successful candidate will help ensure that media engagement, content and digital activity reinforce our clients reputation as a serious, delivery-focused business.
The Company
Our client develop, build, own and operate a range of balancing technologies. Over the past few years, they’ve built subsequently the largest Battery Storage projects in Europe. Whilst Battery Storage is their core business, they are also involved in Hydrogen, PSH and Bioenergy fuelled thermal power plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Media Relationships & Press
- Build and maintain targeted media relationships
- Draft press releases, statements and reactive responses
- Support management of media enquiries, liaising with colleagues, partners and key spokespeople as needed.
- Assist in briefing journalists on projects and developments in a clear and factual way
- Support senior spokespeople in preparing for media engagement
- Monitor media coverage and flag relevant issues or opportunities
Content & Storytelling
- Produce high-quality content, including case studies, explainers and project updates
- Translate complex infrastructure and energy topics into clear, accessible language
- Develop content that can be reused across different communications needs
- Work with colleagues across the business to gather accurate information and inputs
Digital
- Support management of the company website, microsites and social media channels (primarily LinkedIn)
- Deliver digital content aligned to company priorities
- Maintain consistency in tone of voice and quality across outputs
- Track performance and identify areas for improvement
Experience & Skills Required
- Demonstrable experience in media relations and corporate communications (ideally within infrastructure, energy or another complex sector)
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely
- Good judgement and an understanding of when and how to communicate effectively
- Experience supporting social media channels and/or website content
- Ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working in a small team with varied responsibilities
