Neonatal Outreach Team Leader

The Post Holder Will:

• Provide professional, managerial and clinical leadership to NNU staff in the delivery of evidence based infant and family centred care.
• Have responsibility for operational line management of the NNU team ensuring the effective use of resources and the development & maintenance of the highest standards of care and efficient service delivery.
• Provide active leadership, acting as a motivator and communicating effectively with the Neonatal team and wider Multi- professional team.
• Be a visible presence and point of contact for carers, families, visitors and staff, providing help and support in problem solving and meeting their needs. Be a role model ensuring the dignity, rights and confidentiality of the infants, their families and team members are protected and maintained.
• Work closely with the Head of Governance for Maternity and Child Health providing leadership for the implementation and further development of Clinical Governance, risk and quality improvement in the NNU. This will include the development of and implementation of policy and procedure in the following areas: Clinical Governance and risk management (incorporating clinical risk), family experience, quality and process improvement, clinical effectiveness and Health and Safety.

• Create a positive working environment on the NORT which allows staff to show initiative.
• To co-ordinate the staffing of the NORT ensuring appropriate skill-mix throughout the 7 day week period, with efficient use of all resources.
• To participate in the recruitment and selection of all staff for the NORT.
• Work in partnership with other service providers leading to effective care pathways for the infants.
• To facilitate and maintain communication within the multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure that Children’s safeguarding processes and procedures are followed and that infants in our care are protected from harm.
• Ensure that we achieve and maintain 100% compliance with all our safety checks and procedures
• Comply with Health and Safety Policies and ensure that all staff, parents and visitors are informed and advised.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Ensure that all equipment used and techniques used by staff comply with the service and Trust Policies.
• Work collaboratively with the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (NWNODN) to review and audit clinical practices and introduce changes to clinical care supported by the NWNODN.
• Represent the NORT at regional NWNODN meetings and working groups.
• Ensure systems are in place to capture audit data for the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP).
